Empowering Self-Managed Teams

When the right conditions are created, empowering self-managed teams at the grass-roots level can create magic. Esoteric concepts like EVA (Economic Value Added) can be de-mystified and made easy-to-relate-with in the front line.
In several organizations, Jaspal has been personally involved with initiatives to delegate the profit-centre mentality as close as possible to the front line. Thus enabling flexibility and rapid-response to changing market realities.

In Manufacturing, the success of the initial pilot resulted in extending the Self-managed team concept to several other plants.  Similarly, in Marketing & Sales, providing the front-line with hand-held devices empowered them with up-to-date information (stocks, product knowledge, competitive intelligence). This, in turn, meant they could make significant headway in achieving customer satisfaction and loyalty.
